Upgrades, Modifications and Restorations

Whether you want an "F" connector added so you don't have to use one of those funky adapters that weaken the end signal to your tuner or you want a complete restoration of your tuner I can handle it.

Power Supply recap:

20 year old electrolytic capacitors are time bombs waiting to happen, and they can greatly affect the performance and sound of your tuner. I can replace the power supply caps with the capacitor of your choice.

Audiophile upgrades:

Capacitor technology has come a long way and there are some great options out there. Replacement of the capacitors in the audio path can profoundly affect the sound of your tuner.

Capacitors in the audio path on the MPX board of a Phillips 673 replaces with Blackgates.

Opamp upgrade on a Sansui TU-9900.

Many vintage tuners use inferior early Opamps. Here is an example of an Opamp upgrade to a TU-9900.

Improvements can also be had, by replacing the components in the de-emphasis circuit with 1% or better precision components. By passing the de-emphasis switch, and muting circuits.

Restorations:

So you want a complete resto done on your tuner, that can be done. Basic restoration includes cleaning and lubrication all controls and moving parts, replacing all the lamps, cosmetic cleaning, replacement of power supply caps and standard alignment. If your tuner has damage I can't restore it, unless you have a new part. Other alignment packages, upgrades or modifications can me made in addition to the restoration.

DX'ing:

On most tuners I can add a "F" connector to reduce signal lose through a bulan then remove the internal bulan, or there are several difference alignment packages that can be customized for your DX'ing needs.
